IBexNews - The former NFL quarterback and current Mets minor leaguer, who has said he planned to remain a virgin until he gets hitched, is now a married man.

Tebow wed 2017 Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in Cape Town, South Africa, about a year after getting engaged, People reported.

It’s unclear what day the ceremony took place, but Tebow shared a photo and video with the pageant winner over the weekend from what appeared to be a rehearsal dinner.

Shortly before the wedding at the La Paris Estate, Tebow, 32, told People that he wanted his vows to be “perfect.”

“I’m leaving in the traditional things like ’till death do us part,’ but I’m also adding some of my own things to it," Tebow told the magazine.

Nel-Peters, 24, is from South Africa. Tebow confirmed to ESPN in July 2018 that he and the former Miss South Africa were dating.

About 260 people attended the wedding, where Nel-Peters wore a custom gown from David’s Bridal.

“We wanted to look back at the wedding and see that it was intimate, elegant, and traditional," she told People ahead of the wedding. “We definitely wanted it to be something that we could look back on and know that nothing was dated. We want to remember this day for the rest of our lives.”

Tebow rose to immense fame as the college quarterback of the Florida Gators, with whom he won a pair of national championships and a Heisman Trophy during his four seasons there from 2006 to 2009. He was a first-round NFL draft pick by the Denver Broncos in 2010 and spent time with four teams, including the Jets in 2012.

In 2016, Tebow signed a minor-league deal with the Mets in an effort to transition to a professional baseball career. He has suited up for Mets farm teams in each of the past four seasons, playing primarily in left field and advancing as far the Triple-A affiliate Syracuse Mets last year.

Tebow’s personal life has been a hot topic over the years, including him stating in 2009 that he planned to practice abstinence until marriage due to his Christian faith.

He proposed to Nel-Peters in January 2019 at his family’s farm near Jacksonville, Fla.

In addition to his baseball career, Tebow works as a college football analyst for ESPN’s SEC Network.

“We are devastated by the loss of my beautiful brother,” Walker Jr. said of Gordon’s death in the statement. “He leaves a void in the hearts of my family and his friends. Nick’s battle in life was not an easy one."

The death comes four years after the death of Brown, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. Gordon, accused of physically abusing Brown, was ordered in 2016 by a judge to pay her family $36 million in connection with her death.

Brown died at 22 following a half-year in a coma. She was found unresponsive and with drugs in her system in 2015 in a bathtub at the suburban Atlanta home she shared with Gordon.

The following year, Gordon was found liable in her death and was ordered to pay $36 million to Brown’s estate.

In the ensuing years, Gordon was charged with domestic violence, but the case was dropped when his girlfriend retracted her claims.

Whitney Houston died on Feb. 11, 2012 at age 48. In an eerie foreshadowing on Bobbi Kristina’s fate, she was found unresponsive in a bathtub. The cause of death for the superstar singer was drowning due to coronary artery disease and cocaine intoxication.
