The Patriots were welcome in New York for a change, or at least their truck was.

(IBEXNews) – A much-needed shipment of 300,000 N95 masks arrived in New York City Friday morning, courtesy of Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

“Give them to the city of New York just to try to bring them some hope and goodwill,” Kraft told CNN.

The frequently vilified head honcho of the six-time Super Bowl champs sent his personal plane, emblazoned with his team logo, to retrieve 1.7 million masks from Shenzen, China this week. That Boeing 767 touched down with 1.2 million masks Thursday and is going back for the rest soon..

While 900,000 of the newly delivered masks will stay in Massachusetts, Kraft is sending more than a quarter-million of them to New York City, which is on the front line of the war against coronavirus in the U.S.

“A shipment of masks is on its way to NYC health care personnel treating Coronavirus victims,” Massachusetts State Police tweeted at 8:30 a.m. Friday. “MSP cruisers will escort that shipment the entire route from Gillette Stadium to NY.”

CBS News reports that the shipment arrived at the Javits Center late Friday morning. Gov. Cuomo announced Thursday that he and President Trump have coordinated efforts to transform the west side convention center into a treatment facility with 2,500 beds. Docked nearby is the USNS Comfort medical vessel, which has 1,000 beds for use by COVID-19 patients as well as people needing treatment for other reasons.

Kraft reportedly forked over $2 million to help out. The mission was a joint effort with Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker.

Does this mean we have to stop booing the New England Patriots?
