(IBEXNews) - Twitter is recommending that all of its users change their passwords after a bug logged them in plain text.

More than 330 million users' passwords, which are meant to be stored in an encrypted format, were accidentally exposed in an internal log file, Twitter said.

The company insists that they caught the bug before anyone misused the data.

The file containing the passwords was never exposed externally, the company said in a blog post, and issued the guidance "out of an abundance of caution."
