Woman, 21, Says She Was Raped by Man Posing as NYPD

(IBEXNews) – An upstate woman visiting the city told police she was raped by a man claiming to be an NYPD cop, authorities said Saturday.
The 21-year-old woman told cops she met the man, who she only knew by the nickname Benji, on social media.
The two went out late Thursday night and ended up at a home on the northern end of Staten Island, where she says the man forced himself on her between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. Friday.
The woman sought medical help, had a rape kit done and reported the sex assault to police about 7:30 p.m. that night, cops said.
During their social media exchange, the suspect had claimed to be an NYPD cop and even sent her a photo of himself in a police uniform, although it wasn’t immediately clear if it was an NYPD uniform, sources with knowledge of the case said.
Police are investigating. No arrests have been made.
