(IBEXNews) – Kids in North Carolina stole 46 cars worth more than $1.1 million, police said in a press release. The 19 minors accused of stealing the cars are between 9 and 16 years old.

Cops said they have found 40 of the 46 stolen vehicles, but they complained about not being able to arrest the meddling kids who stole the cars.

“Detectives have sought, and thus far have been denied, secure custody orders from the Forsyth County Department of Juvenile Justice for the involved juveniles,” police wrote in the release. “Detectives are continuing their efforts to investigate these crimes and to prevent future thefts.”

All 20 heists were pulled in Forsyth County, N.C., cops said, 18 in the city of Winston-Salem and two in the town of Kernersville, with some dealerships being targeted multiple times.

Mekeal Binns, 19, was arrested March 25 in connection with the stolen vehicles, CNN reported. Binns has not been charged with stealing the cars, but instead with possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and violating probation.
